Dr Akash Perera

Dr Akash Perera completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at James Cook University in 2018.

He completed both GPT1 and GPT2 at Capalaba Medical Centre and is continuing his GP training at Rochedale Family Practice.

He enjoys general practice as a whole and values the variety of presentations, continuity of care, and ongoing learning that come with supporting patients across both acute and long-term health concerns.

His clinical style is grounded in careful listening, practical management, and building a broad, well-rounded skill set through strong supervision and day-to-day patient care.

Before GP training, Dr Perera completed five years working across major tertiary hospitals in Western Australia and Queensland, with the majority of his hospital experience in emergency medicine and surgical departments.

During his general practice training he has been exposed to a wide breadth of presentations and teaching, which has helped expand his knowledge base and strengthen his interests in men's health, chronic disease management, minor surgical procedures, and musculoskeletal medicine.
